A major problem began when we went from being customers
to being consumers.

The customer was always right. 

The producer was obligated to respond.

Today's consumer is instantly, and forever indebted to the producer.

Now, he, or she, must continue to support said producer, no matter how shabby, or costly the product becomes...or face losing everything.

We live in a Factory Store Economy.

Think about it.

If we fail to support the consumer economy, everyone loses their job, and the boom ends.

That's exactly how the classic Factory Store was set up, eh?

Keep everyone indebted to the hand that feeds, and all is well in the world.

We are indebted to our own economy...it is the product.

This outlook applies nicely to Politics as well.

How can someone who's busy practicing the Art of Compromise, sleeping with the enemy, and gathering dirt for future political clout have time to produce anything of worth?

When's the last time it happened?
